Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are very pleased to take this opportunity to welcome your child to the second grade. It will be a very exciting year for your child and we are looking forward to learning and growing together. A good learning experience is built on a cooperative effort among parent, child and teacher. With your participation in and out of the classroom we look forward to a productive, creative and enjoyable year together. Please read the following to help your child get started for a smooth transition into the classroom.
It is very important for your child to arrive to school on time everyday at 8:00 a.m. We serve breakfast in the classroom and begin daily skills by 8:15. It is crucial that your child be here during that time frame. Our students’ carry out various tasks everyday, and each day’s work builds on the last. If for some reason your child is out, the following day we will need a note from a parent, guardian or doctor. If you are expecting to pick your child up early from school we will also need a note in advance informing us.
Homework will be given on a regular basis and will be a follow-up to class work. It will be good practice for your child. Please make sure that homework is completed by your child but checked by you. If you find your child is having some trouble with a particular assignment please let us know. You can write a note in the margins or a letter and we will make sure to go over the material with him or her again.
